Chevrolet camaro black panther. Thus Gorries created and sold its own special-edition Camaro called the Black Panther. In 1967 Toronto-based Gorries Chevrolet created a run of special custom-crafted Camaros called Black Panther Camaros. The cool coupe was part of the dealers special program to meet the exploding demand for performance variants. Veteran automotive author and historian Matt Avery is currently researching the stories behind these big classic cats and compiling an official Registry. The owner and president of Gorries Burke Seitz was an avid sportsman who enjoyed a little wheel-to-wheel competition himself so its no surprise that he would be drawn to the Chevy pony car.
