Is the gm 3.6 v6 a good engine. A new Generation V 43 L V6. You take the orifice out of the rear right valve cover and enlarge the holes for better flow. I recently purchased a black 2017 Chevy Impala LT with the 36L V6 engine with 20k miles.
The 35 and the 4T65-E gave me no problems and was easy to maintain but I am just wondering what to look for with the new generation of V6 engines when buying used. Theres a reason they fail_____. Performance and refinement wise the GM 36L is actually very similar to the Honda 35L.
In its most basic form the 36L engine is a 60 V6 using a 24-valve design with dual overhead camshafts. Every thing Ive read about the 36s chain and tensioner recommend 3-4k changes. 94 mm shorter than the 37 and 34 mm than the 35 V6.
